Our business has grown only from client referral and word of mouth. We are especially proud of the quality client relationships we have built and the amazing projects we've created. Please see the Gallery for examples.

Design Phase

As we walk the site with future clients, we bring to the design conversation an absolute love of the outdoors, an environmental aesthetic, and a keen eye for blending with and augmenting natural sightlines and existing features. After understanding and including client lifestyle desires, materials discussions, and budget, we craft a blueprint for the project like these: example 1 or example 2.

We are particularly interested in and take into account available water resources, different micro climates surrounding the home, and specific plant materials that blend with the site's many challenges and opportunities. We bring an extensive knowledge of plant materials both native/endemic and ornamental, with an eye toward how the landscape will evolve and grow over the years.

Because landscaping should harmonize with both the existing architecture and future building plans, we select materials that complement and resonate with the building design in color, texture, weight and shape. We design for both a wholeness to the project and a sense of discovery and excitement.

As we work together, we define the main living spaces, pathways, and more intimate settings that fulfill the client's lifestyle and landscape goals. As the design phase progresses, we confirm the availablity of grand-scale or exotic materials before incorporating them in the design. We intend to make each project unique and extraordinary in both large and small scale.

Installation

Once the design, materials and budget are approved, installation begins. Although every project and garden space is very unique and holds different challenges and opportunities, each one proceeds in similar layers.

Rocks, stones and hardscape elements are the foundation of the garden space, thus we begin with them. Excavation, earth shaping, concrete foundations and footers, large rock placement, and large tree planting occur with appropriate equipment.

Once the foundational elements of the landscape are in place (ponds, retaining walls, terracing, paving, seat walls, irrigation systems, etc.) we add soils and soil amendments (if necessary), prepare beds and install plant materials, and finally add a mulch application, which adds value in moisture retention, soil building and weed suppression.

During the landscape installation process we communicate frequently with our clients to provide a well-orchestrated and efficient process. We use only the finest quality select stones and healthy, appropriate plant materials from many suppliers. We consistently keep our workspaces totally organized and clean throughout the entire project.
